Second Amendment Outfitters operates and maintains Nassau County’s first and only indoor, climate controlled rifle and pistol range. There are six shooting lanes 23 yards deep with automated target carriers and demarcation lines at 7, 10 and 15 yards. Top of the line backstops and bullet traps ensure our shooters’ safety.
The HVAC system, including state-of-the-art HEPA filtration, makes shooting in the heat of summer or in the chill of winter a healthy and comfortable experience. No bugs, wind, rain, sweat or shivers to deter you from exercising your right at SAO.
Six 25 yard lanes for rifle or pistol
We have a wide variety of handguns and rifles for rent and use in the range and an interesting selection of targets to choose from. Whether you’re interested in trying a .38 revolver, .380 semi-auto, full-sized, compact or sub-compact 9, or a 1911-style .45, we have what you want. Heck, you can even try a .50 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver or an AR15 if you’re feeling adventurous.
Our range ammunition is provided by Atlanta Arms and Ammo, a leading supplier to shooting teams such as the US Army Marksmanship Unit, Marine Corp Glock Team, H&K, Sig Saur, Para Ordinance, Springfield Armory and more. We use AAA because their ammo is clean, reliable and competitively priced. So, we recommend you leave your stockpile at home and shoot some of the best ball ammo on the market.
Of course, you may bring your own guns, ammunition and targets to use in the range as long as they conform to SAO requirements, namely:
- -Steel-core ammo prohibited
-Shotguns prohibited (exceptions made for limited use while patterning)
-Ammo travelling at a rate higher than 3600 feet per second prohibited
-No paper plate targets allowed
This is a shooter-friendly range. While the range is closely monitored by two cameras, we don’t babysit you because we trust you to abide by the Range Rules you signed off on. At the same time, if you’re an inexperienced shooter, our staff will be happy to accompany you into the range to get you set up, show you how to load and fire your weapon and get your rounds on target.
